Advantage and disadvantage of high leverage
The Forex brokers we provide services for offer extremely high leverage. For example, they offer ratios like 1:1000 or 1:2000, and some international brokers even provide leverage up to 1:5000. Looking at these Forex brokers, this doesn't pose any particularly massive risk to traders; in fact, it has many benefits. However, I will now explain both the pros and the cons.
The advantage is quite clear. For traders who don't have much capital, high leverage allows us to practice and trade by entering multiple orders with just a small amount of money. If used on the positive side, it is definitely an advantage.
However, there is a downside. Where does the downside lie? Because the leverage is high, it allows you to open many orders. When this happens, whether it's beginners or just human nature driven by FOMO, greed kicks in. Motivated by the desire to make a lot of money, we end up opening lot sizes that are completely disproportionate to our small account balance.
For example, you might open a $100 account and end up placing multiple 0.05 lot size trades on it. You do it simply because the system allows you to. In this scenario, your account could grow exponentially in an instant, but it could also be wiped out just as fast. This is the biggest danger.
While high leverage has its benefits and advantages, you must also take into account that your own greed can turn that leverage into a massive risk. If you want to use leverage wisely, you can use a small dollar account to practice placing multiple trade orders. The underlying danger is that if you get greedy and over-leverage your orders, it can result in devastating losses.
